The first presentation (by Wenjung Zhang) will provide an update of the activities of the FOBTV Technical Committee.
The FOBTV initiative has set itself a very challenging goal - that of getting global agreement on the next-generation standard for digital terrestrial television. Given the long history of regional standards, this session will explain how FOBTV plans to "achieve the impossible". Having identified many potential applications (use cases), FOBTV is now turning its attention to identifying suitable technologies. The session will include contributions from some of FOBTV's founding members about their ongoing work on technical innovations for digital terrestrial television, such as delivery of UHDTV and delivery of services to portable and mobile receivers. As a global body, FOBTV is able to benefit from the practical experience gained in such trials - as well as from the unrivalled expertise of many individuals around the world.
