Future of Broadcast TV Sessions Held During BMSB2013

LONDON, June 7, 2013 –Future of Broadcast TV sessions were held during the last day of the 8th IEEE International Symposium on Broadband Multimedia Systems and Broadcasting (BMSB2013). It started with a speech given by Nick Wells (BBC / DVB), introducing DVB and its dedications to the development of digital TV industry in the past, DVB Standards, its view on the future trends of digital TV and its future plans. It was followed by a speech given by Wenjun Zhang (Shanghai Jiao Tong University /NERC-DTV), focusing on the future broadcast challenges of applications and technologies. After the two keynote speeches, specialists from the world warmly shared their thoughts on Future of Broadcast TV, Video Coding and Processing, Signal Processing and Modeling such as 3D and MIMO. The day ended with a Panel Discussion Session on the Future of Broadcast TV. Specialists from IEEE BTS, Iowa Public TV, Triveni Digital, ETRI,PBS, Samsung Electronics, BBC, NHK STRL, DVB and NERC-DTV discussed with other attendees some of the hot topics concerning the future development of broadcast television, among which were spectrum crisis and application scenarios.
